What is God waiting for?

More specifically, why is He waiting to bring “the one” into my life? This is the question that most teens and many twenty-somethings (and those older as well) ask themselves. What is God waiting for? You yourself believe that you are ready for a relationship, after all you just want to find the person God has in mind for you right? How can that be wrong? Well, it’s not wrong, it may not be IN God’s plan for you to find that someone and to have that person in your life. At least not yet, if ever, because there’s still a lot that YOU have to work on first.

Maybe God isn’t giving you a romantic relationship because you are trying to find true joy in them rather than in Him. Maybe He isn’t giving you a relationship because you put more importance on those potential relationships than on growing the relationship you already have with Him. Maybe He isn’t giving you a relationship because you are looking for fulfillment in an earthly person rather than finding it in Christ. Perhaps He hasn’t brought that person along because His plan for you requires you being single.

There are so many “maybe’s” and “what if’s” in our lives. The fact of the matter is that we have NO IDEA what amazing plan God has for us, but we do know that He has a plan. A GOOD plan. *Jeremiah 29:11* We have been given the chance to have the most wonderful relationship we ever could, and it isn’t with a man or woman from this world, it is with God. We are given the oppurtunity to have this relationship because God loved us enough to give up His only Son to come to Earth and die for us, creating our “gateway” to heaven through this mediator, Jesus Christ. Our focus should not be on finding our forever partner because we have been given the perfect “partner” in Christ. Our job is to be patient in Him and to let His timing and plan come to fruition without us meddling.

In Psalms 107:9 God tells us that He will satisfy the longings of our soul. We struggle with constantly having our mind taken up with day dreams of finding our soul mates. (Girls I’m talking to you) God loves us unconditionally, He shows us grace and mercy in a way that is impossible for a human to show. He exhibits every quality and characteristic we could ever desire, HE IS PERFECT. Our focus should be on Him and growing our relationship with HIM.

“We love because He first loved us” 1 John 4:19
